IVECO was named Large Goods Vehicle Manufacturer of the Year at the GreenFleet Awards 2016, and is a major player in alternative fuel vans, trucks and minibuses. A partner for sustainable transport, it is ideally positioned to help operators reduce Total Cost of Ownership and emissions, particularly as London prepares for a new Ultra-Low Emission Zone.
The company has delivered more than 15,000 gas-powered vehicles into service around the world – and this year marks the 31st anniversary of the first Iveco powered by electric propulsion.
The alternative fuel range includes Daily Electric, a zero-emissions van and chassis cab range featuring a patented flexible charging mode which allows customers using a fast-charging station to recharge the vehicle in around two hours. It offers best-in-class efficiency with an extended range of up to 150 miles in a three-battery configuration.
It is offered alongside Daily Natural Power, which is unique for being powered by a dedicated natural gas engine which can run on either compressed natural gas (CNG) or compressed biomethane (CBM). Developed from a diesel-engine platform, it delivers performance just like a diesel in terms of power, torque and response and is available in models from 3.5 to 7.2 tonnes, offering a range of between 155 and 280 miles.
IVECO’s Eurocargo medium truck line-up includes dedicated ‘super-eco’ Natural Power models at 12 and 16 tonnes, developing up to 210hp. The range offers maximum bodybuilding flexibility, meaning it can be tailored for a full suite of urban missions.
Completing the range is New Stralis NP, the first natural gas-powered heavy truck specifically designed for long-haul operations. Powered by CNG or liquefied natural gas (LNG), it is the most sustainable long-distance heavy truck ever manufactured and offers the same 400 hp and 1,700 Nm of torque as its diesel equivalent. The gas engine is 50-75 per cent quieter than a Euro VI diesel equivalent, reducing noise pollution by 3-6 dB in comparison with other trucks in the same performance class. The LNG-only version also offers a massive 1,500 km range.
